Well i suppose there is supposed to be a life after Europe isn't it? After all when you're gone for so long and you come back seeing the work that has piled up while you're gone, you just feel absolutely terrible. Thats about the situation that im facing right now, with work just coming and me reminiscing about the happier times spent abroad. Coupled by the fact that my boss is not all that nice, and with me playing "survivor" in welfare, 7 months to my ORD seems quite a distance away for now. Nonetheless, the time spent abroad certainly brought me to my senses in regards to me taking my family for granted. In the past, i was like the "mini tyrant" showing my face and all at home, and expecting others to give way to me. The time spent bonding with my mum in the many mini European rooms that we've stayed helped me understand the meaning of a family, that they'll be there for you in times of good and bad, that no matter what ever wrong you'll do or ever did, they'll always welcome you back with open arms and forgive you. So in a way, im terribly glad that my eyes have 'opened' on the journey there.
I was just talking to my colleague today about my trip overseas and she was saying how lucky i am to go for such a long haul trip. And actually thinking back, i AM lucky, for my parents save money to spend on their kids rather than on themselves. They can always go spulrging on branded goods or good restaurant meals, but somehow or rather, they always save the best for their kids. Looking back at the places i've been, i feel blessed. With this trip covering 8 countries, the number of places visited just jumped. I've been to the US twice on both 3 week plus long trips - Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco, Phil, Seattle, Washington D.C, Virginia, and im sure a few more that i cant remember(i actually went to flip my photo albums to see the places i've covered) ; seen the grand canyon, seen the niagara falls, seen the statue of liberty, seen the white house, seen the golden gate bridge, rode the rides at disney land, rode the ferry at lake tahoe and sitting the public transport system in many towns and cities across the US and which i feel is of paramount importance if you want to have been considered to have visited the country. On top of that, i've been to Korea, HongKong, Taiwan, Malaysia (countless of times since young), Thailand, Indonesia (Batam and the such), Australia ( thrice i think, covering Perth, Sydney blah blah).
I just think im rather lucky, not that lucky (for those who know my inner thoughts and this has nothing to do with my family), but lucky.
