Anyway yesterday i went food tasting at Westin for a company function. My division, in collaboration with jOm, is hosting a 100 table dinner at the ballroom of swissotel. And the budget for this is a whopping 120k!
I was fortunate enough to meet more people from the force. This time, its the JOM welfare committee and i got to meet the current president of jOm. So i was seating beside him and he was telling me about his stories of him and my colleague. Back to the food, it was great! i mean since its a free 10-course dinner, of course its good. The function we were in was small, cosy, yet formal and gives you the classy feel. And then they were suddenly asking about me, and after they found that that im an nspi they suddenly became quite weird. i guess it was the rank that was making them feel uneasy as they were all junior officers. but i guess i felt it and became more proactive in the conversations and somehow, we got back on friendly terms. and what is it with rank? its all material..

anyway today i did yet another emcee ing job. i think i've been so many master of ceremonies such that i hardly ever get the cold feet or the butterflies in my stomach anymore. So being the good host, i was talking to the guest speaker who has retired from the force many years ago. He was telling me all about his stories and how he, now, has become a self made millionaire. And he was telling me this sentence that even the president of jOm and many others have told me while im in the force.
"In life, it doesn't matter whether you know alot of people. But what matters is how many people know you, and this, is what it takes to succeed in life."
and he went on and on about why this statement is so true. and i believe it is.
