Lumbong Trek

Over the weekend, i went with NUS Rovers to Lumbong for trekking. Situated near Kota Tinggi in Johore, it is supposedly one of the easier routes for trekking. When you hear the word easy, you would think of it as a fairly straight-forward route right? At least thats what me and gilbert thought, but the route was actually quite tedious - criss crossing the river, waist deep water crossing, climbing up near vertical slopes, cutting across waterfalls and having to pass through some fairly dense vegetation. It started raining as when we were half-way into the trek, and by the time we reached the campsite, we were all drenched and shivering.

The campsite at the top is an open area of white sand, sand much like siloso's, and as it was still raining, we just huddled in a circle and looked at each other as we braved the cold. All in all however, it was a very good experience for a first time.

Dinner was sumptuous! Other than the standard maggi noodles, we actually brought up eggs for frying, canned mushrooms, campbell soup, bread and also packet porridge and canned fruits. But even if it was just maggi noodles, we'd be contented, because any food tastes good when hungry! I dont know whether its because i was hungry or that the girls in my group knew how to whip up a nice omelette, but the fried egg cooked in the mess tin under a bunsen burner tasted fantastic! So did the canned longans and canned almond and the maggi mee.
The com members even brought up their own steamboat! And a frying pan with a stove to fry chicken!
Power.

The next day on the way down, we stopped by the third waterfall for abit of fun.

Had dinner in JB beside City Plaza, at a back alley filled with throngs of pushcarts. Stingray and vegetables shared among 3 at just S$4 each.
As we hit the bus terminal, it was packed like sardines! As they say, there's a first for everything, so we decided to walk across the causeway. As if that was not enough, the Singapore side terminal was so packed as well that we decided to walk from Woodlands checkpoint to Masiling to take a train home.
As soon as i bathed after reaching home, my head touched the pillow and it was goodnight to the world.
