Yesterday was MPD's D&D. Of all the 30+ people at Welfare, only a pathetic 6 attended. And of these 6, 4 were heads of department that were more or less "compelled" to go. The remanining 2 were NSFs, and its me and ivan, my senior, and we went on our won free will. I look at other departments in MPD and feel so envious as i see closely knitted groups consisting of NSFs and Regulars, sitting together joking chatting and laughing, with what seems no barriers of segregation in between. It only seems welfare is not like that.
Everyone has been saying that i cant blame it as welfare is located at Cantonment, which is way off HQ, and people from the departments can hardly interact with Welfare, thus maybe the reason for them being anti-social. Well another reason i can think can be attributed to the fact that the heart of my department consists of mostly senior citizens. Im not being ageist, but the fact is that this may be one of the major factors that Welfare has become reclusive and "locked up away in its hole". Maybe they feel that since they're near retirement (or rather have already retired!), they have no need to socialise and network with people as they would not ever get another promotion due to their employment being one of a short few years contract scheme. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to just mingle around and widen your social circle right?
A defence for them could be that maybe they have their families to look after and that they must cook and wash clothes, not forgetting housework. The majority of people in MPD are still, in relative terms, in their youths, and they have the drive to party. Also, they're much better educated and more well-refined, such that they know "politics", and feel that it is a must to attend and try to get into people's good books. If not, they must attend such social functions as their climb up the civil service ladder may well depend on it, for through such events can one see the attitude of a person. My colleagues may have probably already seen the better of the worlds and they feel no such need anymore, but what i hate about it is that through their nonchalant attitude, they're directly and indirectly affecting the NSFs in Welfare.
Nonetheless, the D&D was very happening. With the meaning of the words of Melvin, those workplace caterpillars mothed into pretty butterflies on the night, and it certainly benefitted the guys at least. PPSD girls, i must say once again, are so super hot! They really took my breadth away with their extravent character and killer sense of dressing. They were so spontanous and sporting in playing the games such that it made me so envious when they appeared in force to cross-dress two guys. Those two were real lucky guys, being "mobbed" by the "girls that play with the mind". A lesson for all, when looking for a girlfriend, look for psychologists.

im still confused as to whether i should study accountancy or business when i go to the uni. this should be like the most important decision that i'd ever take in my life but yet im taking it so lightly. at first i was so keen on biz, but after hearing to what everyone had to say, accountancy sounds more prospective. but i was attending this financial planning workshop today, and found that im still so super keen on finance and investments, so its between passion and hear-say prospects (which is definitely true). but after the incident in jc in which i couldn't read geog, i told myself that i have to go for passion in my future endeavours. but.. but... oh dear.
