well i guess that to be a real police officer, or what an officer once told me, one has to firstly, do policing work on the ground and secondly, do investigative work. i'm currently doing the former, and i'm having so much fun at that. though i'm only at this for 2 weeks, but nonetheless, i've learned so much, met so many interesting people, saw a couple of dead bodies, arrested a few people. the people at sk npc has been so friendly and helpful, such that i think i'll probably miss the place when i leave in 10 day's time. what's more, there are so many friends there, both from serangoon npc and knowing them while doing provost in the academy.
today is rather interesting. the first case i attended to is a death case. as a mark of respect, i won't discuss the facts of the case. we also had a uml (unlicensed money lending) case, or in layman terms, a loanshark case. uml cases are very common in housing areas as obviously, it is densly populated. this shows that it never pays to borrow from a loanshark, because they'll keep hounding you even though you've paid everything up. it will only increase the scrutiny from your neighbours and put you in a bad light should your unit no. appear in ink on the wall of the common corridor. we also did some proactive police patrolling at certain prominent places where the crime rates are high. see the thing about being a policeman is that when you're bored, you can do foot patrolling on the streets. it lets us 'bio' hot babes and at the same time, accomplishes the aim of having police presence in the area, such that we are legitimately 'bioing' girls on the road. good huh. with that in mind, we decided to increase police presence at compass point, where street corner gangs always have fights and thieves always commit shop-theft. wearing the uniform and having kaypos (almost everyone, cause who isn't a kaypo? everyone wants to know what is happening and why is police in the area) looking at you is something one will not experience everytime. seeing the school kids reminisce me of secondary school days where one gets so excited over a cute girl in chij uniform. not that i don't now anymore, but it's just different. drove past nyp on the way from rhq, was hoping to see cris but didn't.
all in all, i'm certainly having a blast of a time doing policing work, though short, but will be certainly etched in my memoriable memories.
to somebody : don't mean to be hurtful but it's just that all most of the people i meet from your school are like that. maybe not you. no malicious intent intended. my apologies.
