Poor SPP

I attended mass yesterday at SPP, not because under normal circumstances i would, but because my mum asked me to get for her communion from the priest. She's currently warded in NUH for food poisoning, or rather severe food poisoning, as the past 4 days bears witness to. In any case, I got for her communion which i thought she should not take as her stomach is already so weak, but she insisted so i just followed Fr. Lim's instructions with some prayers before communion and she received the body of christ following that. I was with my mum these past few days just for the sake of keeping her company, as i know that being warded can be quite lonely, as my experience with dengue in 2002 told me. Anyway sorry AUDREY, we go for an earthquake next week ok? Glad that my mum is feeling much better now, and Doc said that she can be discharged tomorrow. I was seriously shocked when my brother called me last thursday and told me that mum was warded. Luckily Dad was coincidentally on leave and that provided moral support mum in hospital.

SPP is in ruins. Not literally, but internally. Though the new building is about done, but majority of the regular SPP church goers are gone. The societies there are really disintegrating. Yesterday, the 3 main societies helping with sunset mass really put up a poor show. Firstly, there's the choir that sounds more like a primary school choir. There are the mature ladies that try to reach the high soprano notes and most of the time landing up in the wrong keys, old men that can't differentiate pitches and tones, and of course, the one or two vibrant young kids that have angelic voices, but that they're simply drowned by the rest. That's all that the sunset choir has, senior citizens and kids that are hardly warmed up in this world. Then there's the servers, and guess what? There are no servers at all. In the end, my brother volunteered to help out at the last minute and went in during homily in a one man show. Throughout the mass, I was so guilty for not going up to help out with my brother. Apparently, every sunset there's only these 2 young kids that serve when the normal roster has 5 names on it, so they're pretty fustrated and they just went mia. As for the wardens, there's some sections at the back of the church that they missed out, and there goes some of the donations that the church so sorely needs. The only reason i can think of for this decline is that the parish priest is very demanding and always getting on people's nerves. If this goes on, it'll be really bad for SPP. Even all my childhood friends are all about gone, and I'll try to join back the lectors as soon as i can, given the current state of things.

Had supper with eunice, jc, drey and vincent yesterday night. It has been a long time since our clique met up and its nice seeing the same old warm faces again. Time to book in, till next time...
